Dodge County Clerk Says Polls Are Secure Ahead Of Primary

(Juneau) Dodge County Clerk says voters do not need to worry about hacking or other electronic threats during the August 14 primary. Karen Gibson says safety measures have been put in place to make sure there is no tampering. She says a modem is attached to each polling machine which works just like a text message from a cellphone and helps cover dead spots that may have issues reporting throughout the county. Gibson says the modems transmit the results wirelessly. She says there is still a paper trail in place in case there is a need for a recount. Gibson says advancements in technology and security has made the polling process quicker which means that voting totals can be reported sooner than in years past.
