Dennis P. Schmuhl

Dennis P. Schmuhl, age 68 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Friday, August 3, 2018.

Dennis was born on December 13, 1949 in Berlin, Wisconsin to Ray and Lillian (Boening) Schmuhl.  He was a Ripon High School graduate with the Class of 1968. From 1969 to 1972, he served in the U.S. Army, being stationed in both Germany and Vietnam.  He met the love of his life Susan (Schacht), and they were married in West Bend, Wisconsin on November 17, 1979. He graduated from UW Platteville in 1982 with a degree in agricultural business and worked for the USDA for 30 years, finishing his career at National Exchange Bank and Trust, retiring in 2016.  Dennis was a proud member of the Beaver Dam Lions Club.  He was a committed transporter for the Lions Eye Bank and a dedicated member of the Lions vision screening team.  He was happiest when he was on the golf course.  He also enjoyed playing sheepshead and cribbage, talking about the newest technology, and shopping for the latest gadgets.  His patience and kindness were beyond measure and he connected with any and every animal he crossed paths with.

He will be missed by his wife, Susan; children, Jason of Kenosha and Kathryn of Denver.  He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie (Merle) Strelow of Markesan; father-in-law, Donald (Carol) Schacht; sisters-in-law, Patrice Starrett and Jodi (William) Wiesneski; along with many relatives and friends.  He was predeceased by infant son, Michael, his parents and his mother-in-law.

Per Dennis’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service.  Memorials may be made to the Wisconsin Lions Eye Bank or BDCH Hillside Hospice.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
