Demerit Points Possible Against Beaver Dam Bar

5/2/17 – There may be another Beaver Dam tavern facing sanctions under the city’s Demerit Point Ordinance that governs liquor license holders. Authorities say there was a fight early Saturday morning at Johnny’s Lounge on Madison Street. A patron told officers that he was drug out of the bar and beat up. The bartender, who reportedly did not call police, said that the patron was asked to leave. Police Chief John Kreuziger told the common council last night that demerit points are pending against the establishment for failing to report a fight. The city council adopted a demerit point ordinance in 2009 to better manage drinking establishments that break the law. Taverns that accumulate 200 points in a rolling 18-month period could have their license suspended or revoked.
