DECEMBER 5TH – SACHER TORTE

Sacher Torte Squares

Basic Bar Cookie Dough:

1 (15 oz.) box white cake mix

½ c. (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

1 egg

1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened

In large bowl, place cake mix, butter, cream cheese and egg. Using an electric mixer on MEDIUM, beat 2-3 minutes, stopping once to scrape down bowl. Preheat oven to 350°. Grease or spray the bottom and sides of a 9×13” baking pan.

Sacher Torte Squares:

Basic Bar Dough (see above)

1 ½ c. (9 oz.) dark or semisweet chocolate chips

1 c. apricot jam

Prepare bar cookie dough as directed (above). Press dough into bottom of pan. Bake 15-18 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick inserted near center comes out with moist crumbs attached. Let cool on rack. Spread cookies with apricot jam and drizzle with melted chocolate. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes until chocolate is firm. Cut into 1” squares.
