Old German Honey Cookies

1 c. white sugar

1 c. shortening

1 c. honey

2 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp. baking soda

4 c. all-purpose flour

1 tsp. ground ginger

In saucepan over LOW heat, melt sugar, shortening and honey. Let cool. Mix together eggs, vanilla, baking soda and ginger. Gradually add to cooled honey mixture. Slowly add flour. Stir until well blended. Drop by teaspoonful onto cookie sheets 2” apart. Bake at 350° until golden for 12 -15 minutes. Makes 24 cookies. 233 calories
