DCSO Law Of The Month: Loud Music

4/24/17 – With warmer weather upon us, Dodge County residents are reminded to keep the volume of their music at reasonable levels when driving. Sheriff Dale Schmidt addresses ‘sound amplification devices’ as April’s ‘law of the month.’ Schmidt says a radio or other ‘sound amplification devices’ should not be heard from a distance of more than 75 feet. The sheriff says use of such equipment is only acceptable in requesting assistance or to warn against unsafe conditions. Violation of the statue carries a fine of $187-dollars for first offense and $263-dollars for a second offense.
