CWD On The Rise Nationwide

7/31/17 – The U-S Geological Survey is reporting cases of chronic wasting disease are on the rise nationwide.  A federal study just released says the growth in the number of cases is so great localized herds could become extinct.  So far this year, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has confirmed eight cases of chronic wasting disease, all in the southern part of the state.  The D-N-R’s  aggressive approach to controlling chronic wasting disease over the last 15 years discouraged hunters because it resulted in a major decline in Wisconsin’s deer population.
