Cookie Plant Re-Opens In Ripon

5/18/17 – The wafer plant that made the last of the cookies produced in Ripon is seeing new life. The last of the City’s cookie plants closed last year. At the time it employed about 60 workers. Now 26 workers are making wafer cookies for Signature Wafer LLC, a Long Island, New York-based company. Ripon Mayor Gary Will says it is a small start, but it is good to see cookies making a comeback in “Cookie Town U.S.A.” He says it is a good thing for the economy and creates some jobs. Will says he’s met with the new owners who have high expectations for the plant. The mayor says they are a nice group of people who are excited to be in the community.  Treehouse Foods owned the last cookie plant that operated in Ripon, which made sugar wafer cookies. Before that ConAgra Foods had closed the main plant.
