5/1/17 – Construction of James Street, the major east/west roadway through Columbus, is on schedule. Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and its contractors are reporting that phase one — from River Road to Ludington Street — will be completed by the end of this month. City Administrator Patrick Vander Sanden says that the reconstruction of Highways 16 and 60 through the city includes Columbus Water and Light removing some old lead laterals to homes and businesses. The DOT planners are making an effort to keep access to local businesses open. The city has also hired an intern to keep local businesses informed of the construction schedule and any changes in reconstruction plans.
