Columbus Hospital Using City Tax-Exempt Bonds For Expansion Project

(Columbus) The Columbus City Council approved Tuesday night a measure that will allow the Columbus Community Hospital to utilize the city’s tax-exempt bonding for an upcoming expansion project.  In early March of 2019, the council drafted an initial resolution in which the Columbus Community Hospital would be able to borrow up to 10 million dollars to cover costs associated with the acquisition, construction, renovation, remodeling, furnishing, equipping and expanding of the hospital facilities located within the city.  JD Milburn, Vice President of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce says the measure shows that the community is growing and the hospitals dedication to the community.  Milburn also says residents should be going to a hospital in their own community, calling the collaboration “awesome.” Columbus City Council President Andrew Traxler echoed Milburn’s comments as the council voted unanimously to pass the bonding resolution.
