Columbus Acquires Land For Possible New Fire Station

2/8/17 – The Columbus Fire Department has acquired land for a possible new fire station. Columbus Fire Chief Randy Koehn has been searching for land for a new fire station for years. The former Countryside Ford site on James Street recently moved to a new location on Transit Drive. Administrator Patrick Vander Sanden said that the city closed on the centrally-located Countryside property earlier this month. The 12-acre site on James Street is located east of the intersection with Dix Street and Industrial Drive. The closing marks the end of a search for location for the Columbus Fire Station, however, planning for the funding, facilities and construction could take years.
