Catherine Vande Slunt

Catherine Vande Slunt, 90, of rural Brandon, died Saturday, December 2, 2017 at UW Hospital in Madison.

 

Catherine was born February 20, 1927 in Fond du Lac County the daughter of Henry and Martha Harmsen Pluim.  On November 25, 1950 she married Gerald Vande Slunt in Brandon.  The couple resided in rural Brandon all their married lives.  Catherine was formerly a member of First Reformed Church in Waupun.  She loved to watch her favorite TV program, Wheel of Fortune, riding her bicycle, reading, and being outside enjoying nature.

 

Catherine is survived by her children: Gordy (Sue) Vande Slunt of Eldorado, Marilyn (Ken) Engman of Two Rivers, Betty Wilderman of Brandon, Daniel (Sharon) Vande Slunt of Fond du Lac, Helen (Harold) Casper of Westfield, Peter (Theresa) Vande Slunt of Fond du Lac, and Kathy (David) Adams of Hartford; 26 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Ed Vande Slunt; and two sisters-in-law: Phyllis Pluim and Barbara Pluim.

 

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Vande Slunt; brothers: Walter, Harold, George, Clarence, and Marty Pluim; sister, Gladys Pluim; and son-in-law, Doug Wilderman.

 

Funeral services for Catherine Vande Slunt will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun with Rev. Laura Yates officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun.  Friends and relatives may call on the family on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
