1/28/17 – An annual winter event returns to Beaver Dam this weekend. Cabin Fever Fest is being held both today and tomorrow from 1-4 pm at Crystal Lake Park. During a recent appearance on WBEV’s Community Comment, Community Activities and Services Director Evonne Boettge said the annual ‘snowball drop’ will feature 1,000 snowballs being dropped from above the park. Four are tied to a prize: one-one night stay at the AmericInn and three-$50 rewards. Tomorrow, both local restaurants and amateur cooks are invited to enter a chili cook-off. That afternoon, Boettge says the Beaver Dam Fire Department will be on hand for an ice safety demonstration where they will put their ice rescue skills on display and also offer safety tips for ice fishing and walking on a frozen body of water. The event wraps up Sunday with the ‘mayor’s plunge’ where people jump in the lake to raise money for the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre’s building fund. Boettge says ice skates will be available to rent both days. Anyone interested in learning more about Cabin Fever Fest is encouraged to visit the Community Activities and Services Department page on the City of Beaver Dam website.
