Bernice Loomans

Bernice Loomans, 100, of Waupun, passed away January 28, 2018, at the Christian Homestead in Waupun with family by her side.

 

Bernice Loomans was born February 18, 1917 in the town of Alto, the daughter of Floris and Hilda Bille Sanders. On November 18, 1936 she married Henry L. Loomans in the town of Alto. Following their marriage the couple farmed all of their married lives. Bernice was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Waupun where she was involved with Bible study, Prison Ministry, and Christian Women’s Club. Bernice enjoyed painting pictures, quilting, and doing volunteer work for many organizations.

 

Bernice is survived by a son, Dr. Henry J. (Robin) Loomans of Suring, WI; four daughters: Hildred Loomans of Waupun, Alice Posthuma of rural Brandon, Elaine (Dean) Huizenga of Waupun, and Sue Davenport of Waupun; two step-children: Pearl Vande Zande of Waupun and Evelyn (Ken) DeVries of Waupun; 20 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 58 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry; three brothers: George, Henry, and Alfred; three sisters: Martina Oosterwyk, Edna Smit, and Florence Lemmenes; a son-in-law, Clarence “Cliff” Posthuma; a step-daughter, Helena (Barney) Vande Kolk; a step-son, Milton Vande Zande; two step-granddaughters; and a great-grandson.

 

Funeral services for Bernice Loomans will be held Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. Jeff Brower officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Mound Cemetery in the town of Alto. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Wednesday at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4-6 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.
