Beaver Dam School Board Adopts Preliminary Budget

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam School Board Monday night adopted a preliminary budget for the 2018-19 school year. While there are still several unknown variables – like state aid and enrollment numbers – the preliminary document allows the district to move forward on a spending plan for the upcoming year and secure needed cash flow. The $48-million dollar budget includes an anticipated tax levy of $15.5-million dollars, down from $15.8-million. The proposed mill rate would be $9.65 cents per $1000 of assessed value, a decrease of 34-cents from the last school year. Director of Financial Services Anne-Marie Malkovich says the mill rate could drop even further with a favorable increase in property values in the district.  The final budget is slated for a public hearing and adoption in October.
