Beaver Dam Scholarship Groups Aiding Local Students

(Beaver Dam) Two separate Beaver Dam scholarship organizations have been providing support to area students. The Beaver Dam High School Scholarship Committee was organized by the school district in 1949 and awards local two and four-year college and career technical scholarships. Applicants are ranked in four categories difficulty of curriculum, personal traits, community service/co-curricular activities, and GPA. Also aiding local youth, is the Beaver Dam Scholarship Foundation that was created in 1991 by eighteen local citizens wanting to help students with the rising costs of higher education. The Foundation’s goal is to provide talented students with funds to attend wither a four-year or technical college of their choosing. Scholarship applications are graded and scored by out-of-town judges to determine who receives the awards and are based off of financial need and academic merit. The group is a permanently-endowed volunteer organization.
