Beaver Dam Police Department hosts Coffee with a Cop

(Beaver Dam) A unique opportunity for residents of Beaver Dam to offer up ideas and discuss issues with members of the Beaver Dam Police Department in an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships, and drink some coffee as the Beaver Dam Police Department hosts Coffee with a Cop.

Coffee with a Cop provides an opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the Beaver Dam Police Department’s work in Dodge County.

Officials say often times, public contact with law enforcement happens during emergencies, or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building with the community, and some community members may feel that officers are unapproachable on the street. Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.

Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by The United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. Similar events are being held across the county, as local police departments, sheriff’s offices, and state police forces strive to make lasting connections with the communities they serve.  The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between law enforcement and community members one cup of coffee at a time.

Open to all members of the community. The event runs from 8am until 10am on October 3, 2018 at McDonald’s, 840 Park Ave., Beaver Dam, WI, 53916.  Please contact Chief John Kreuziger with questions: 920-887-4614, jkreuziger@bdpd.org.
