Beaver Dam Mayor Weighs In On Noise Ordinance

(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam Mayor Becky Glewen is not thrilled with the noise ordinance changes that were adopted last month. The common council recently established quiet hours in the city between 11pm and 6am, seven days a week. A citizens group presented a petition to the city last fall asking to have the ordinance bolstered to address loud music. Glewen told us recently on WBEV’s Community Comment that she could not find any community that allows noise past 10pm. The mayor says she is a fan of outdoor music but is also a fan of her quiet time. She called the limits set by the common council “too lenient” and thinks an even earlier time would be appropriate for weeknights. Glewen says if the matter is ever revisited, city officials need to take into consideration everybody equally, from the entrepreneurs looking to make money to the homeowners seeking quiet time.
