Beaver Dam Man Placed On Probation For Spitting On Cop

(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam man was placed on probation for 18 months for spitting on a police officer during his sentencing hearing Monday. Joshua Erickson pled guilty to two misdemeanor charges of Resisting an Officer and Disorderly Conduct. A felony charge of Discharge Bodily Fluid at a Public Safety Worker was dismissed but read into the record. Last September, a Beaver Dam officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Front and Spring streets. Erickson was walking by the squad car with a group of people when he spat at an officer sitting in the vehicle. When asked by law enforcement why he spat, the 25-year-old said he did not like the police and has had bad encounters with them in the past. A preliminary breath test was given and Erickson had a blood alcohol level of point-one-six-nine (.169). In addition to probation Erickson must complete 20 hours of community service.
