Beaver Dam Man Injured When Truck Hits Bike

6/28/17 – A Beaver Dam man was injured after being struck by a truck while riding his bicycle. The accident occurred Tuesday afternoon at 3:22pm in the Town of Beaver Dam. Authorities say Larry Bilke was riding the bike eastbound on County Highway S when the 67-year-old turned left onto South Center Road. The truck, driven by 59-year-old Jeffrey Ziehme of rural Juneau, swerved to avoid a collision but struck the bicycle and Bilke was ejected. Bilke was transported to Beaver Dam Community Hospital before being transferred by ambulance to UW Hospital in Madison. Ziehme was not injured. The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team.
