(Beaver Dam) Cash bond was set at $100,000 Monday for a Beaver Dam man accused of robbing Kornely’s Craft store over the weekend. Adrian White is facing one felony count of Robbery with Threat of Force as well as two misdemeanor charges of Theft of Movable Property and Resisting an Officer. Just before noon on Saturday, the owner of the Front Street business called 9-1-1 and reported that someone took an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register before fleeing. According to the criminal complaint, the owner told police the suspect said (quote) “give me [sic] all of the money or I will kill you.” The owner also reported a Ziploc bag containing an unknown amount of change and several rolls of pennies were also missing from the back office. Officers on patrol later located a subject matching the description. The suspect was first spotted riding a bicycle and then fled on foot before jumping into the Beaver Dam River on the 600 Block of South Spring Street. As police were searching the east side of the river they came across the subject lying near the water’s edge. The man reportedly identified himself as Adrian White and when asked to put his hands in the air White said (quote) “I can’t, I’m too cold. I need help.” The 25-year-old was taken to Beaver Dam Community Hospital where he was treated for hypothermia. When interviewed by investigators, White allegedly said that he was on his way home from meeting a weed dealer when a police officer pointed a gun at him. White reportedly said that was why he ran and that he did not do anything wrong. If convicted on all charges, White faces over 16 years in prison. A judge will decide next week if there is enough evidence to order a trial.
