(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Lake Development Corporation board Thursday night voted to offer Big Skunk Island to the City of Beaver Dam for $1 and other valuable considerations. Board representatives will make the offer in early February to a city committee. The island is currently off limits to the public due to the board’s concerns about liability issues. Board Chair John Moser says the city has better liability coverage under recreational immunity statutes and would be in a better position to decide whether to open it to the public. Late last year the Beaver Dam Conservationists told the board they would be interested in purchasing the island for use by their members. Some board members said the island is a valuable resource and should be kept in the public sector.
