Beaver Dam Council President Don Neuert Passes Away

9/11/17 – The president of the Beaver Dam Common Council passed away over the weekend. Alderman Don Neuert was an 11-year veteran of the Beaver Dam Council in Ward Ten, which is situated in and around Wayland Academy. Beaver Dam Mayor Becky Glewen says she is “deeply saddened by word of the passing and she will miss his valuable insight and especially his friendship. Glewen says Neuert was a great representative for the citizens of Beaver Dam and a very positive and supportive influence for both her and council. She says her thoughts and prayers are with Don’s wife, daughter, family and friends at this difficult time. Neuert was elected council president by his colleagues in April after spending several years chairing the city’s Administrative Committee, which focuses on city finances, personnel and public safety. The Washington-state native’s full time job was with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services Division of Public Health. He recently completed a Master of Arts in Security Studies at the Naval Postgraduate School for Homeland Security. As part of obtaining the degree, Neuert wrote a thesis titled “Closing the Gap” that earned him the Zimbardo Award which is given to one member of each graduating class who best embodies scientific excellence through outstanding analyses and keen insights.
