11/28/17 – The public is invited to an open house at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital on Wednesday that highlights a robotic surgery. The hospitals Robotic Surgeons and Surgery Team have completed over a year of successful operations using the newly-acquired da Vinci Xi Surgical system. To celebrate, the team will give a presentation on their practices and answer questions attendees. BDCH Surgical Specialist Dr. Janie Myers says the robotic technology serves as an extension of a doctor’s eyes and hands. Myers adds that while the surgeon is still in control and is making the decisions, the robot allows for greater flexibility. Beaver Dam Community Hospital uses laparoscopic surgical techniques whenever possible to reduce scarring and healing time. The procedures also give doctors an unprecedented amount of control and an advanced, three-dimensional view of the surgical field. Recently, the hospital announced the introduction of nearly scar-less, single-site procedures, expanding the ability to get patients better without leaving noticeable, permanent scars. The open house for the new robotic surgery technology will be held this Wednesday (11/29) from 4pm to 7pm in the Beaver Dam Community Hospital Conference Center, which is located on the first floor of the hospital. The presentation will begin at 6pm and light refreshments will be served during the event. For more information, visit www.bdch.com or call 920-356-6540.
