(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce is warning area business of a scam that has been hitting communities across the county. The scam takes advantage of businesses by seeking funds in support of local school sports. The company promises they will distribute t-shirts, banners and other merchandise on behalf of the school in exchange for the business’s donation. This According to the Muskego Chamber, has been problem three times in the last year and a half in their community. In the scam a fraudulent company contacts a business claiming to be fundraising or selling advertising for local school district sports teams. The Muskego Police department says that unfortunately the scammers made off with the money each time.
The Beaver Dam chamber warns area business to be extra diligent in their research of any entity they choose to donate funds to and reach out to the local school district to confirm affiliation with the fundraising company. The chamber also asks that anyone who has received an unverified fraudulent call to alert the Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce, so they can alert other business and the Beaver Dam Police Department.
