(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Area Arts Association will be looking for a new home in the new year. In June, the organization left their longtime location at the Seippel Homestead on North Spring Street and moved to the downtown. Since then, they have been operating out the building that was home to Rasske’s Renewed Appliances on 305 South Spring Street on a temporary basis.
Board Member Kraig Kasten says the group hopes to locate a permanent home by the end of December. He says their goal is to stay in the downtown and that they have their eyes on several sites but notes that they do not have enough funds to buy a building. Kasten says the arts association has used this transitional phase as an opportunity to redefine their mission. He says members meet weekly to discuss where the organization is going as well as their strengths and weaknesses.
Kasten says when they moved over the summer, the group looked through 26 years of paperwork which brought to light old programs and features that could possibly make a comeback in the near future. Kasten says that the organization is always looking for board members or volunteers. He added that if anyone knows of a possible space for the arts association to reach out to the group.
