BDPD Warns Of Subjects Approaching Children

3/30/17 – The Beaver Dam Police Department says that have received after-the-fact reports of children being approached by a suspicious person or persons after school while they are walking home. According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, the subjects have asked children if they would like a ride and in other cases told them to get in the vehicle. Officials say they have received various descriptions but the common description is that of a dark-colored, sporty-type car with a black, male driver. Other reports have identified a white driver. Authorities are telling the public that if they see a vehicle matching the description – or any vehicle pulled up next to a young child speaking with them – to keep an eye on the situation and report any suspicious activity to the police department, preferably with a license plate and driver description. Parents are also advised to speak with their children about the situation, to make sure they are aware of their surroundings and to have them walk with a friend whenever possible.
