BDPD School Resource Officers Present Report To PFC

9/6/17 – The Beaver Dam Police and Fire Commission heard a report last night from the two police officers assigned to the school district. School Resource Officer Kevin Rohde has spent the past five years assigned to the high school and Don Smith Learning Academy. Rhode says he had contact with 2200 students, 1200 staffers, and 160 parents. During the 2016-17 school year he generated 53 complaint reports and issued 86 municipal citations. There were 51 citations issued for truancy last year compared to 80 in the previous year. There were 24 citations issued for disorderly conduct at the high school level along with four requests for charges. Also last year at the high school there were four citations issued for unlawful use of a computer, two each for marijuana and tobacco possession and one each for possessing a dangerous weapon, criminal damage to property and loitering. Lisa Dake-Jones has been the Kindergarten-through-Eighth-Grade Resource Officer since 2012. She had contact with 467 students, over 1000 staffers and around 250 parents. During the 2016-17 school year generated 40 complaints and issued 98 citations. There were 27 citations issued for disorderly conduct in the elementary and middle schools along with 21 for truancy and 17 for contributing to truancy. Loitering resulted in 19 citations, three citations were issued for unlawful use of a computer, two each for harassment and theft and one for bringing a dangerous weapon other than a firearm onto the grounds of the middle school. Both resource officers reported that the first day of school yesterday went very well with no problems.
