10/12/17 – It was a close shave but the cast and crew of the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre’s production of Lombardi made it to a barber by opening night. As we reported last week, Director Rick Ramirez – a Wisconsin-born Cowboys fan – entered into a bet with WBEV-WXRO Green & Gold This Week Co-Host Kevin Haugen over the outcome of last Sunday’s Green Bay – Dallas game. The loser had to shave the logo of the winning team into their hair. On Thursday, Ramirez went under the razor and is now sporting a Packers logo on his scalp. Ramirez was not the only one. Anyone who is familiar with the legendary coach Vince Lombardi knows he was clean-shaven. The same could not be said for actor Bob Deyo of Fredonia whose passion for playing the sports legend outweighed the love for a moustache that he has had since the 1970s. Bearded actor Chris Connolly is playing un-bearded Packers fullback Jim Taylor and lost his facial hair this week. Joe Lord shaved his signature goatee to play the Golden Boy halfback Paul Hornung. Tony Kikkert, who plays Hall of Fame linebacker Dave Robinson, dialed his five-o’clock shadow back to 12-noon. The always clean-shaven Rich Zeman plays sports reporter Michael McCormick and while he did not have to lose any facial hair he did dye his snow white hair jet black for the role. Lombardi is on the stage of the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre beginning Friday night at 7:30pm with seven performances through Saturday, October 21. More information is at www.bdact.org.
