(Beaver Dam) Nominations are being accepted for the Beaver Dam School District’s 2018 Wall of Fame Awards. Honors are given in two categories: Friends of Education and Outstanding Alumni.
Friends of Education are individuals or organizations who have given distinguished service to the district and its students. The most recent recipient was Apache Stainless Equipment Corporation, recognized for helping teach area students learn about available careers in manufacturing.
Outstanding Alumni are graduates of the high school recognized for exceptional accomplishments, outstanding leadership, historical significance and prominence on the local, state, national or international stage. Emmy-award winning journalist and best-selling author Mary Pflum Peterson was the 2017 Outstanding Alumni.
The Class of 1990 valedictorian covered war zones in Afghanistan, royal weddings, papal funerals in Rome, Hurricane Katrina, presidential elections, and the Oscars, interviewing politicians, world leaders, and movie stars. In 2015, she published the critically-acclaimed New York Times best-seller, “White Dresses: A Memoir of Love and Secrets, Mothers and Daughters.” Film star Fred MacMurray was first recipient.
