(Watertown) After eluding capture for several days, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office apprehended the suspect wanted in connection with a recent police chase. The 41-year-old was found Friday evening sleeping in a cooler at the Windwood Country Club near Watertown. That was one week after Watertown police called off the brief police chase. During the evening hours the next day a person living on Danbury Drive, east of Watertown, noticed an abandoned vehicle that had crashed and contacted the Sheriff’s Office. Authorities attempted to locate the registered owner with no success. The suspect’s family and friends had not heard from him in several days and were growing concerned. Deputies expanded their search which led them to locating the smashed-in window at the country club. It was learned that the suspect had remained at the clubhouse which is closed. The man is currently at the Dodge County Detention Facility on a probation hold. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the investigation is ongoing and it is likely charges will be requested in the coming days.
