Authorities Identify Motorists In Theresa Injury Crash

12/5/17 – One of the motorists involved in a two-vehicle weekend injury accident near Theresa is facing drunk driving charges. Todd Henke was driving a pickup that collided with a semi-truck hauling grain on State Highway 28, one mile north of the village. The 56-year-old Fond du Lac man was arrested for fifth offense Operating A Motor Vehicle With A Prohibited Alcohol Content, which is a felony. Henke was not wearing a seatbelt, was flown from the scene and remains hospitalized after suffering significant but non-life-threatening injuries. The operator of the semi, 48-year-old Dean Adelmeyer of Theresa, was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and released. Authorities say additional charges are likely as the cause and circumstances of the crash are determined. The semi was westbound on Highway 28, which is controlled with a stop sign, while the pickup was northbound on State Highway 28/67/175 which is not controlled. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has ramped up its enforcement of traffic violations in response to a higher than average number of fatal crashes in the county this year. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the seriousness of this crash underscores the reason for the effort. The sheriff reminds motorists to wear seatbelts, stop completely at stop signs and drive sober.
