Authorities Identify Motorists Killed In Head-On Collision Near Waterloo

(Town of Portland) Authorities have identified the two motorists killed Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident in the Town of Portland. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says 21-year-old Kaley Gray and 28-year-old Jose Perez-Martinez, both of Waterloo, were the only occupants in either vehicle. Gray was traveling eastbound on State Highway 19 near North Street when she collided head-on with a westbound pickup-truck operated by Perez-Martinez. Authorities say that operating left of center and failing to negotiate a curve led to the crash. Impairment due to alcohol is being investigated as a possible factor but a final determination cannot be made until testing by the Medical Examiner’s Office which is not expected to be completed for several weeks. The accident remains under investigation.
