Authorities Identify Drivers Injured In Beaver Dam Wreck

10/5/17 – Authorities in Dodge County have released the names of the adults injured in a two-vehicle accident last week in the Town of Beaver Dam. Josef Merk of rural Fox Lake was driving a southbound minivan on the outside gravel shoulder of Highway 151 late Friday morning when the 81-year-old abruptly crossed over both southbound lanes in an attempt to turn east onto Hemlock Road. Merk was struck on the driver’s side as he traveled into the path of a southbound SUV driven by 25-year-old Sarah Aellig of Waupun. Merk’s minivan then entered the median and overturned, coming to rest on its wheels. Merk was ejected and was flown from the scene by Flight For Life to Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah with serious, life-threatening injuries. The SUV also came to rest in the median and Aellig and her two children suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Her five-week-old daughter and five-year-old son were taken by ambulance to American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison while Aellig sought treatment on her own.
