Alfred “Bud” H.  Affeldt Jr., 86, of the town of Calamus passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Dycora Transitional Health and Living.

A visitation for Bud will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam.  A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Moberg officiating.  Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home.

Alfred “Bud” was born on March 1, 1932 the son of Alfred H. and Selma (Kohn) Affeldt Sr. in Beaver Dam.  He was a 1950 graduate of Beaver Dam High School.  On June 26, 1954, he was united in marriage to Marilynn Schwoch in Beaver Dam.

Bud worked for John Schmid from 1952 – 1982 as a can milk hauler, driving the same truck for 30 years.  He also was the owner and operator of Bud’s Auto Service, where he continued to work even this past year.

Bud was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.  He was an active member of the Dodge County Antique Power Club.  He had a passion for antique International Farmall Tractors. Bud collected and repaired antique clocks. He was also a member of the Lowell Trackmasters Snowmobile Club and the Leipsic Horse Club.  Bud had participated as an engine builder on the crew in Short Track Late Model Racing from 1960 – 1980.  He enjoyed racing and traveled throughout the country with his wife and friends attending many NASCAR races. He enjoyed shooting pool in local bar leagues and bowling in the mixed couple leagues in Beaver Dam.

Bud will be remembered for his love of free beer.

Bud is survived by his wife of 64 years Marilynn; his children: Sherry (John) Duckett of Beaver Dam, Larry (Kim Kennedy) Affeldt of Beaver Dam and Tammy (Gary Peterson) Westphal of Madison; three grandchildren: Jessica Richter, Josh Westphal and Kimberly Duckett; great granddaughter Lauren Richter; two brothers Gerald Affeldt of Granite City, IL and Richard (Sandy) Affeldt of Columbus, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
