Air Quality Monitors To Be Placed In Village Glen Evacuation Zone

(Beaver Dam) Officials will be using air quality monitors during Thursday’s controlled burn of the Village Glen apartment building where dangerous chemicals were found following a fatal explosion last week. Dodge County Emergency Management Director Amy Nehls says both pieces of equipment could look suspicious to the public as they go about their business. The EPA’s air quality devices will be located inside the mandatory evacuation zone from Wednesday afternoon through Friday afternoon. Nehls says the apparatus will be set up both outdoors in the mandatory evacuation area and also inside buildings. The equipment will be taking air quality samples the whole time and sending data to the EPA staff that are doing the monitoring. The public is being asked not to disturb the sensitive equipment.
